Friends Fred, Christina and Hermi (Fred's mom) came to Costa Rica for a visit. They stayed in San Jose 2 nights before heading out to the beach. Unfortunately, Vinnie and I couldn't accompany them to the beach. However we did have a fun day driving an hour or so up the mountain to see the volcano crater.
Costa Rica has 6 major volcanos and Vinnie has now been to 2 of them. Only 4 more to visit!

Everyone took turns pushing Vinnie up the path to the the crater. It stunk like sulfer.

Seeing Poas is rare, especially in June (rainy season). We got up there around 10am, and had a great view of the crater. Amazing.

Vinnie is thinking "Holy crap! What is that? It's smoking!"

On the way down, the rain started. Luckily we ducked into a restaurant just in time and didn't get wet. Watching the lightening over San Jose was very cool. We were surrounded by clouds!
Vinnie played with his cars while waiting for his lunch.
However, the service was a little slow (typical) and Vinnie got a little upset.

I let him out of the high chair and he had a lot more fun exploring the restaurant.
